Flying Machine is thrilled to welcome Wilmington’s own Jesse Stockton tonight from 6-8pm. There is no cover charge for tonight’s show.
Jesse is a combination of the grass roots, appalachia music he was raised on with an air of mystery, and pain in his lyrics. He has a powerhouse of a right arm on rhythm, and is multi talented at playing the guitar, banjo, and mandolin. Jesse has been a musician since the age of 9, and has been performing for people since that time. His first instrument was the piano, at which he became well acquainted with melody and arrangement. Learning songs such as "Yesterday" by The Beatles, all the way to Micheal Jackson and Rolling Stones tunes. Picking up the guitar for the first time at age 12, he was quickly influenced at an early age by Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Doc Watson, Earl Scruggs, Tony Rice, Roger Miller and various contemporary artists at the time such as David Byrne, Tom Petty, Sublime, and Blind Melon. Although having his first musical breakthrough did not come until his sister played him "Free Wheelin" by Bob Dylan, and was instantly overwhelmed with a deep love for that early sound in music. And after Dylan came the Jimi Hendrix, Neil Young, Led Zeppellin, Black Sabbath, The Allman Bros., Crosby Stills Nash and Young, The Dead.
Other major influences include Townes Van Zandt, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Gram Parsons, Levon Helms, Doc Watson, BIll Monroe, Jeff Tweedy, Miles Davis, Duane Allman, Jeff Buckley, Jim Morrison, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, and Johnny Cash.
